Sounds Amazing

We had a fantastic time at the museum with lots of really interesting things to see and do. Thanks to all the parents who came to help, I'm sure they had fun too.

Suter Visit - Landscapes

We had our last visit to the Suter Gallery for the year. We looked at landscapes and Esther showed us how to create the different features of a landscape. We finished off our landscapes at school by using watercolour paints.

New Kid in Town!!

Find It at the Suter

We had a great time looking for all the different animals in pictures around the Suter. Thanks Esther for an awesome time.

Soccer Tournament

Well done to all of those who took part in the Kahikatea syndicate soccer tournament.
The winner of the final was team 4 Tom and Callum room 5, Luke and Aiden room 3, Jordan room 14 and Bailey, Max and Kahu room 17.
The girls put up a brave match, they were Tayla and Molly (Jessie was away sick) room 6, Aimee and Ella room 3, Hannah and Madison room 5 and Cheyelle and Cheyanne room 17. The final score was 9-1.
Congratulations to everyone who played.

Soccer Tournament and Tennis

We hope Tango will have a longer life than Frankinstein!!!! Tango is the bronze coloured fish.

Come and have a look at some of the awesome art work we have done in room 6. We looked at work by Kay George and used her work as inspiration to create our own piece. We included people, places and things which were important to us.

We hope that you are enjoying yourself in room 6. You have already made lots of friends, we are so happy you have come because now we have 4 year 4 girls in our class!!

A busy week in Room 6

We have been soooo busy this week with lots of learning and fun activities. We started the week with a syndicate tug of war to try out our new rope. Then on Friday we went to the Suter to work with Esther on the Bing Dawe exhibition and we can't wait till the clay birds are fired so we can paint them. To end our week we celebrated Library week with a dress up day in your favourite book character, whew!! have a great rest Room 6 next week will be just as busy!!!!

Room 6 Top 6 Most Important Children's Rights

During our Inquiry Learning discussion on Children's Rights we talked about what we thought we the top 6 most important rights. We were able to decide the top 4 but the last 2 were difficult as there was a spread of opinion. In the end we had a secret class ballot and here are the results.This was part of our Setting the Scene using the SAUCE inquiry model.

3. Decent shelter
4. Medical care
5. Nutrious food
6. Practise culture, religion and language

Children's Rights

In room 6 we are learning about Children's Rights. Here we are sorting out things we need and things we want.

We have 2 new room 6 class members. The bronze one is Frankinstein and the spotty one is Bubbles. We had a class nomination and votes for the names.

Maths in Room 6

We are learning to draw graphs in room 6. We had to choose which question we were going to ask. Here we are collecting our data. We made a tally chart first and then asked each other questions about favourite things. We will be using our data to draw block graphs.
